MSS: (TcpMaxConnectResponseRetransmissions) Configure number of SYN-ACK retransmissions

Defines how many times the system will retransmit a SYN-ACK packet when it does not receive an acknowledgement for a new connection request. Lowering this value can help mitigate certain denial-of-service attacks by more quickly dropping half-open connections. The system default is 2 retransmissions.

Allowed Values
  • 0 0 retransmissions (half-open connections drop after 3 seconds).
  • 1 1 retransmission (half-open connections drop after 9 seconds).
  • 2 2 retransmissions (half-open connections drop after 21 seconds) - Windows Default.
  • 3 3 retransmissions (half-open connections drop after 45 seconds).
